6-plus dwt. Saturday

I pulled a little over 6 dwt. out of a single "government sluice box" Saturday morning.

"Government sluice box" = large corrogated steel culvert running under a highway.

Way to go bud!!! Howd ya do it?

Was it dry or water running in it still?

Thats a lot of gold for 1 culvert, you musta wisked broomed it?

Probably a little seasonal creek huh?

Might be some pockets worth sluicing for upstream.

Im heading out after I sell this money pit called a house and dredge a river canyon 25' deep.

Hope to do 50 to 100 ozs from it.

Finding gold in culvert is very hard and you must be lucky too, do it again!!!!! Your HOT

Clean out the area between the ridges. If there is water in them suction the materials out; if dry sweep it up and pan it out later.

Over time you'll learn which culverts/creeks are most productive. Clean them out after each flood condition.

Way to go goldminer! Wish I wasn't stuck here in the middle of the michigan basin about a 400 mile drive from even the poor poor ground in the U.P. I even built a scoop the precise radius of the common culvert grooves, back when I had the gold bug real bad about a dozen years ago.

They produce! The corrigation creates a marvelous set of riffles that trap & hold the heavies.

Most practioners of this method of gold mining have kept it secret, I know of several truck mounted Large vacum units with long hoses that will handle wet or dry. Most people do not know what they are up to even when they see them in action. The beauty of it is that Hwy ROW can not be claimed so if the Hwy patrol don't bother you no one else can. "Tip" wear a orange vest & a hard hat, use a flashing amber light on top of your vehicle, you will never be bothered. If you ever drive to Alaska take your " Scoop", the culverts in BC & the Yukon are huge, north of Fairbanks is good too!
